Meet the new members of Usabilla

on / by Bryony Watson

Things have been developing at Usabilla over the last couple of months and along the way we’ve been adding to our collection of employees. So Kate, Jacky, Joshua, Kyran, Marco, Ana, Bob and Bryony, welcome to the team!

Here’s a little introduction of each of our newest members:

Kate – Office Manager

  • “I’m a self confessed nerd about comics, my favourite games on the XBox are Diablo and Fable and I don’t prefer Star Wars (at least the prequels) over Star Trek,”

Hey, I’m Kate, the new Office Manager at Usabilla. Very excited to be working with so much talented people in a fast growing company.

Started on the 18th of August and already had a lot of fun challenges and enjoying the luxury of shaping this new function at Usabilla.
My loves are food, photography, cooking, baking and traveling. Aiming to keep the office organised!

Jacky – Customer Satisfaction Manager

  • “I went to Florence, Italy for half a year but I still can’t cook…”

Hey I‘m Jacky, the new Customer Satisfaction Manager. I am 29 years old, went to university in Utrecht and then moved to The Hague (where I still live) to learn European Studies. I went to Florence, Italy for half a year but I still can’t cook…

In my spare time I enjoy running through mud or just on the streets, as that’s less messy. Horse riding used to be my passion and I hope to be able to continue that in the future. At the moment I’m very busy with my new hobby, which is looking for a house in Amsterdam (tips are welcome). Until I’ve found one I like to read on the train and I enjoy watching other people.

Joshua – Developer

  • “For fun I don’t mind ‘running’ around in my little virtual 3D world with my Oculus Rift goggles”

My name is Joshua, my Dutch friends & family call me Josja and I am now a developer at Usabilla. From an early age my life has never been without electronics and music. I studied Sonology at the academy of music in The Hague which is aimed at creating new music with new technology. This paved the way to a busy career developing media rich applications for Mac, PC and web.

For fun I don’t mind ‘running’ around in my little virtual 3D world with my Oculus Rift goggles or playing keys or bass at jam sessions in pubs around Amsterdam. These are just two of my million hobbies.

Kyran – Front-end Developer

  • “Outside of work I enjoy cider”

I’m Kyran from Bristol. I recently moved to Amsterdam to live and work somewhere new. I specialise in front-end web development and outside of work I enjoy cider (lacking in Amsterdam), electronic music, skiing and table tennis.

Marco – Visual Design Intern

  • “I come from Madeira, Portugal (a place you should think about visiting at least once in your life)”

I’m the new Visual Designer Intern, Marco. I come from Madeira, Portugal (a place you should think about visiting at least once in your life), where I studied design without specification. This involved graphic, product, web and animation design.I left Madeira at the end of 2012, first to the Czech Republic, then Germany and now the Netherlands. I like design, travel, sports, beer, music, photography…

Ana – UX Intern

  • “I know a lot of weird and useless facts about the animal kingdom”

I’m Ana, the new UX intern at Usabilla. I was born in Belgrade, spent most of my childhood in Toronto and then lived in San Francisco for about 15 years. I did my Bachelor in neuroscience at UC Berkeley, worked in market research for a few years, and I am now doing my Master in Cognitive Science at the UvA. Of all the places I’ve lived, Amsterdam is my favorite so far.

I absolutely love travelling, (vegetarian) food, yoga, and I really like animals (particularly elephants, sloths, turtles, and of course, cats) so I know a lot of weird and useless facts about the animal kingdom. One of my biggest hobbies is discovering new music, from old-school techno to jazz to noise rock to post-punk to hip-hop, the list goes on and on.

Bob – Business Developer UK

  • “..I also brew my own beer.”

My name is Robert Mulder (son of Fox – no really) but everyone calls me Bob. I was born in the Netherlands but grew up in Bath, UK where I studied comparative literature at Goldsmiths University in London. After graduating I returned to the Netherlands where I worked briefly for Radio Netherlands Worldwide. Disillusioned with media and journalism I began pursuing my interest in technology and have been working in software ever since. In addition to tech, I love travelling and music and I also brew my own beer.

Bryony – Marketing Intern

  • “I’m a generally clumsy person, which is a trait I’m hoping to lose over here”

I’m Bryony, the new marketing intern from York, (northern) England. I’m 21, freshly graduated from university and new to life in Amsterdam. This is my first venture into the marketing/ tech world, so I’m a bit of a newbie, looking to learn about the wonders of marketing and UX. I’m a generally clumsy person, which is a trait I’m hoping to lose over here. My main interests are film, photography, travelling, Yorkshire tea and aimlessly wandering around Amsterdam.
