The company Streetbank

Industry: Social services
Using Usabilla Live since: August 2012

Streetbank is a site that helps people share and borrow things from your neighbours and to make their neighbourhood a nicer place. Streetbank was started by a group of five people with the aim to get people involved in their community, to foster altruism, a generosity of spirit and volunteerism. The idea is to meet local needs with local solutions, reducing poverty by building community. Streetbank also makes sense environmentally as it helps people to reuse things, and for things that are under-used to be used more, and that all helps to reduce consumption.

The Opportunity

As a project that aims at building and improving experiences in real-world communities, the overall user experience of also takes in a central role. The team behind Streetbank wants to continuously improve their own understanding of their users and to catch what people like or dislike on their site. Also, it is important for them to find out quickly if people are having difficulties, or if there are any bugs popping up on the site.

Streetbank improves their overall user experience with user feedback from Usabilla Live.

Obviously, the team behind Streetbank was in need of a tool to help them learn about their users, but also to keep them within sight at all times to ensure the best possible user experience. From the website, another Nesta funded organisation, Streetbank learned about Usabilla Live. The visual and user inspired nature of the live feedback was exactly what they were hoping for.

The Solution

With Usabilla Live, Streetbank receives quite some valuable feedback. The most insightful items are those that offered a comment to explain the exact nature of the feedback. Detailed feedback allows the team behind Streetbank to take instant action and either improve or extend features of their site. Concrete opinions of real users are great to validate and prioritize the feedback comes in.

The most insightful feedback items are those that offer a comment with a detailed explanation.

For example, Usabilla Live feedback granted insights, such as: (1) Quick notifications if something major is broken on the site (i.e. comments like ‘I can’t send a message!’). (2) Clear indication of what additional features or changes users would like (i.e. comments like ‘It would be helpful if I could list something I want to receive, not just stuff to give away’). (3) Clear indication of where users are getting confused on how to use the site. (i.e. comments like ‘how can I see stuff I’m offering? How can I change my profile picture?’).

Alice Amies, Project Manager at Streetbank explains, that Usabilla Live is a great tool, mainly because it’s so easy to use and it offers great user feedback. The diverse feedback applies to the design, functionality, and the features of and therefore helps to improve not only parts, but the overall user experience.
